FAQS

Interior Design + Project Management

  • How do I prepare for a consultation?

Create a list of ideas divided into wants and needs for the space or spaces. Also make a list of things you do NOT like. Jot down your goals for the space and think of ways it can better accommodate your lifestyle. I also recommend that you know your budget.

  • What is a mood board?

It's like a visual list or an organized collage created just for your project! When a client asks me for help with a room they don’t know how to put together - furniture to pick or materials to purchase like carpeting, lighting, handles or fixtures etc - I design a digital mood board with photos, colors, furniture options and textiles for you to consider. I also include a print-out with all the pricing and links where you can go to buy the items. I'll ensure it's all within budget! It’s a great way for clients to visually see their space in a cohesive way. All the questing work is done for you and you have a visual reference to help you achieve your desired look.

  • What if I don't know my budget?

I will walk you through the process to know the standard range of pricing for materials. If there is a design element that is on the higher end that you love, I can help you figure out what to eliminate or how to save so you don't go over budget. I love finding deals and have been in the industry for many years so I know just where to shop for lighting, accent pieces, furniture and materials.

  • Do you have contractors you use?

Yes, I have a list of contractors I'm happy to use, or I can definitely work with one you know and would like to use.

  • Do I need to make a deposit?

Yes. If a client decides to use me as their project manager, I require a signed contract and a deposit for the cost of materials so they can be ordered.

Staging

  • What are the benefits of staging?

Staging helps make a space more appealing to buyers and can help your home or business photograph better if you're planning to list your property on an MLS.

Statistics show, staging increases the appraisal of a home by 5%-10%. It also makes each room feel larger and more versatile.

  • Do you supply furniture to stage an empty home?

I do not supply furniture of my own for staging empty spaces, but I will help the owner or agent chose classic items to fill the space. I can shop with them or do the shopping with a deposit. We'll choose items that can easily be reused, repurposed or resold if necessary.

  • How does staging work?

First I consult with the client and do a walk through of what to pack away or eliminate to make a space feel more cohesive. I will then stage the space with the items from your home I suggested you keep. I will sometimes suggest clients buy a few items or I will bring some of my own decor to make things look photo ready.
